Prom or the Club?

Oh how times have changed since I was a girl. High school kids nowadays are something else. 18 year olds dressing and TRYING to act “grown” has me flabbergasted every time I witness it. Bumping elbows in the same stores. ::smh:: One thing that shows the change in times is with Prom formals.

When I went to prom my spaghetti straps were pushing risqué and I had a shawl with me. Prude? Perhaps. (lol) In my day, short prom dresses were a newer trend that hadn’t quite caught on yet. But in today’s high school, prom society girls are looking like they’re doing a cover shoot with Maxim magazine.

Seriously. Would you let your 17 or 18 year old daughter wear this to her prom? Or any occasion for that matter? My answer? Absolutely NOT! =]

Jeans: Color & More Color

There’s good news for the ladies who cling to jeans throughout the year like a kid to their sno-cones on a 100+ degree day. Colored jeans are IN this season! A simple and comfy trend that can be dressed either/or. Dress it up with a neutral colored blazer and heels. Or dress it down with a casual top and sandals or Toms (the other new rage).

Blazin’

Blazers are a hot trend for Spring. When it’s not hot enough to go sleeveless but not cold enough for a heavy jacket. Blazers are the perfect accessory to dress up an otherwise simple outfit. For this season, it’s all about a punch of color. I, personally, want a hot pink blazer or the the jade below.

(Zara Pique Blazer) Easy to go with jeans and a white tee like the picture above. Or even top it over a lace summer dress or skirt (so in this season too!). Casual dinner or night on the town fits the blazer’s purpose.

Floral prints everywhere!

So Spring fashions are finally here! Well, at least being able to finally wear them is here. And one thing I’ve seen everywhere is floral prints. I’m trying to will myself out of my usual black/grey or other earthly tone wearing self and venture out.

One thing I’d love to try are these floral jeans. Easy to pair with a white tee, tucked in the front, some color sandals or even heels, cute clutch and some aviator sunglasses and you’re ready for whatever!
